What is Qurban?

The act of Qurban (Sacrifice) is carried out by millions of Muslims every year during Eid Al-Adha. Following the example of The Father of Prophets, Abraham (AS).
Allah (swt) says in the Quran: "It is neither their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah, it is your piety that reaches Him". (Al Qur'an, Ch:22 v:37)
The prophet Muhammad PBUH was asked "What is Qurban?", He answered, "It is the sunnah of your father Ibrahim (AS), for every hair of the Qurban you will receive a reward from Allah and for every hair in the wool you will receive a reward". (Hadith - Ibn Maja and Tirmidhi).
HAI and Qurban

One of the major projects undertaken by HAI Australia on an annual basis is the Qurban Project.
The current donation for Qurban is AU$80. Our duty is to facilitate and help our donors send their Qurbans to the countries of their choice. This also provides the most efficient and cost saving means to ensure that your sacrifice reaches its target.
During this project HAI Australia approaches the Muslim communities in Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Fiji for donations to purchase the Qurbans. The Qurbans are slaughtered, shipped and distributed to the poor and needy families in the following countries:
Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Lebanon, Sudan, Bangladesh, Kosovo, Somalia, Bosnia, Eritrea, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Fiji and Jordan.
Qurban Distribution
Canned:

HAI has employed the process of canning for meat distribution. There are many advantages to this method while keeping within the sunnah of the blessed prophets. Some benefits include:
• Canned meat is pre-cooked and has a long shelf-life without the need for refrigeration.
• Canned meat is hygienic and ready for immediate consumption.
• It can be transported easily to almost anywhere in the world.
Frozen:
In this way the meat is kept in good condition until it reaches its destination. This is convenient for those countries where shipping and distributing the meat does not take a long time.
Local Slaughtering:
In this way the livestock are purchased and slaughtered in the country of destination. The main advantage of this is that the needy people enjoy fresh, local meat on the days of Eid Al-Adha. |
