Qurban

The Qurbani (Eid Sacrifice) is one of the great sunnah's of prophet Ibrahim (as) during the days of Hajj.

The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was asked 'What is Qurban?', He answered 'It is the sunnah of your father Ibrahim (as), for every hair of the Qurbani you will receive a reward from Allah and for every hair in the wool you will receive a reward'. (hadith - Ibn Maja and Tirmidhi).

What is Qurban?

The act of Qurban (Sacrifice) is carried out by millions of Muslims every year during Eid Al-Adha following the example of the father of Prophets, Ibrahim (AS).

Allah (SWT) says in the Quran: "It is neither their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah, it is your piety that reaches Him". (Al Qur'an, Ch:22 v:37)

The prophet Muhammad PBUH  was asked "What is Qurban?", He answered, "It is the sunnah of your father Ibrahim (AS), for every hair of the Qurban you will receive a reward from Allah and for every hair in the wool you will receive a reward". (Hadith - Ibn Maja and Tirmidhi).

Human Appeal International & Qurban

One of the major projects undertaken by Human Appeal International Australia on an annual basis is the Qurban Project.

The current donation for Qurban is AU$100. Our duty is to facilitate and help our donors send their Qurbans to the countries of their choice. This also provides the most efficient and cost saving means to ensure that your sacrifice reaches its target.

During this project Human Appeal International approaches the Muslim communities in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia and other countries for donations to purchase the Qurbans. The Qurbans are slaughtered, shipped and distributed to the poor and needy families in the following countries:
Palestine, Iraq, Afghan Refugees, Kashmir, Lebanon, Sudan, Bangladesh, Kosovo, Somalia, Bosnia, Eritrean Refugees, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Jordan, Pakistan and Egypt.

Qurban Distribution

Human Appeal Internatonal distributes Qurbans in 3 ways: Local Slaughtering, Hard Frozen and Canned.

Local Slaughtering:
Where it is viable, livestock is purchased and slaughtered in the destination country. This allows the poor and needy to enjoy fresh, local meat on the days of Eid Al-Adha.

Canned and Hard-Frozen:
The second and third methods are implemented in Australia. Livestock are slaughtered in Australia and then sent to the poor and needy either canned or hard-frozen.

Canned Qurban is pre-cooked and has a long shelf life. It is hygienic and ready for immediate consumption. This is an effective way to distribute Qurbans in regions where there are no refrigeration facilities, such as refugee camps.

Hard-frozen Qurban is cut into 6 pieces and indivually wrapped. Each Qurban is shipped in a separate carton to its intended destination via refrigerated containers.
