The earthquake which struck eastern Turkey last Sunday has collapsed over 1,000 buildings and left more than 40,000 citizens homeless and displaced. Officials have reported this 7.2-magnitude quake to be the strongest in Turkey since 1999.
Although 279 people are confirmed dead, the estimated death toll lies over 1000, as hundreds remain unaccounted for. Amid continuing aftershocks, many are too afraid to return to their houses, and makeshift shelters, kitchens and hospitals have been set up for the thousands living on the streets.
It is a race against time, as rescue teams rummage through debris in sub-zero temperatures to find survivors, and aid agencies work day and night to deliver medical supplies, food and tents.
Human Appeal International has partners on the ground distributing provisions and has allocated $50,000 as initial funding for this natural disaster.
Human Appeal International is urging you to donate generously to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter and medical aid to the helpless victims in Turkey.
