The first burials of victims of Christchurch shooting

The first burials of victims of Christchurch shooting took place today. The burial of Khaled Alhajj Mustafa and his son were performed today at Memorial Park Cemetery, Christchurch, five days after the attacks in which 50 people were killed. Thirteen bodies were released this afternoon and most of the bodies will be released by tonight, said police.

Brothers Bashar Al-Jamal and Riyad Qasim of Human Appeal Australia participated with the mourners who arrived for the funeral of the father and son. His wife (Um Hamza), their other son (Zaid) who was injured during the shooting and the Police Commissioner representative where among those who attended the funeral. 

The coffins were laid on the ground for relatives to say last goodbyes. Zaid insisted on seeing his father and brother for the last time before the burial and came out of his wheelchair to be able to reach the faces of his father and brother.

The burials for the remaining 48 victims are expected to take place Thursday.

May Allah grant the victims mercy and grant their families and those that are in still hospitals patience and a speedy recovery.
