sadaqaA Sadaqa is a donation given voluntarily for the sake of Allah to poor people, providing them with the necessities of life. A donor can make a general donation (otherwise known as Sadaqa) at any time.

HAI will put this Sadaqa towards one of its charity funds. For this kind of donation, The donor can decide to which destination he or she wants the  Sadaqa to go. They may also select a fund of their choice (e.g. orphans, wells, or any of our other charity projects).

The Best Charity Is That Given Out Of What We Make And Earn

The Prophet (PBUH) said: “The best earning is that which your hands have earned; whenever a man spends on himself, or his family, children and servant, it is considered as a charity for him (Narrated by Ibn Majja)".

Our Wealth Will Not Decrease If We Give In Charity

Allah (SWT) promised to replace everything that we give in charity, and Allah (SWT) is true to His promise. Allah (SWT) said in the Quran: “Say: Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the Sustenance to such of His servants as He pleases: and what you spend in charity He replaces it: for He is the Best of those who grant Sustenance (Saba  34 : 39)". Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasised this concept when He said:  “No money ever decreases because of charity”.

     Sadaqa Protects The Society

In societies around the world, it is not uncommon for crimes to be committed out of poverty and need. When a person does not have sufficient income, he may try to get money illegally to save his life, or to save the life of loved ones.  The actions of wealthier people sharing their wealth through Sadaqa or Zakah goes a long way to ensuring that the poor do not have to resort to criminal means to obtain money, and in satisfying their basic needs for shelter, sustenance and security.

Sadaqa Jariya: The Gift that Keeps on Giving

The Prophet (PBUH) said: “If a human dies, then his good deeds stop except for three: a Sadaqa Jariah (continuous charity), a beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him (Narrated by Muslim)". The Sadaqa Jariya is a donation that goes towards a continuous form of charity, such as the digging of wells, building mosques, building schools and distributing knowledge. Its reward from Allah (SWT) also continues for as long as the donation keeps benefiting people.
