As part of his current visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Human Appeal Australia Director Br Bashar Al-Jamal met with His Eminence Husein Kavazović, Reis-ul-Ulema (Grand Mufti) of the Islamic Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the Rijaset headquarters in Sarajevo to discuss Human Appeal Australia’s humanitarian work in the country and explore opportunities to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two institutions.

Human Appeal Australia (HAA) has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina through this high-level meeting, reflecting more than three decades of humanitarian cooperation and shared service to those in need.

Human Appeal Australia has been serving communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina since 1992, delivering humanitarian relief and sustainable community development projects that have supported thousands of vulnerable families. During the meeting, both parties reflected on the positive impact of their longstanding cooperation, particularly through initiatives implemented in partnership with the Rijaset’s Office for Social Welfare.

As part of its continued commitment to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Human Appeal Australia announced an additional €100,000 in humanitarian assistance to support the families of the victims of the Srebrenica Genocide, marking 31 years since the tragedy. This contribution reflects the organisation’s enduring solidarity with survivors and affected families, helping to address ongoing humanitarian needs while honouring the memory of those who lost their lives.

Discussions also focused on expanding cooperation through new joint humanitarian initiatives that will continue to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals and families across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In recognition of Human Appeal Australia’s longstanding humanitarian service and partnership, His Eminence presented Br Bashar Al-Jamal with a letter of appreciation and a commemorative gift. In return, Br Al-Jamal extended an invitation to His Eminence to visit Australia and engage with the Australian Muslim community, further strengthening the bonds between the two communities.

The meeting was attended by Ibrahim-ef. Malanović, Head of the Office for Social Welfare, Ahmed-ef. Purdić, Fatwa Emin, and Dr Isa Jusuf, Coordinator of Human Appeal projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
