Iftar at the Kellyville campus of the Australian International Academy

The annual Community Iftar was held at the Kellyville campus of the Australian International Academy on Wednesday, May 30 for community members, students, parents and staff.

About 100 people attended the school’s Community Iftar, including Mr. Rob Critchlow, Superintendent NSW Police; Rabbi Zalman KASTEL, Vice President, Together for Humanity; Ms. Donna FRASER, General Secretary, Hills Multicultural Network; Mr. Sohail SHAMSI, President, Hills District Muslims Society and Ms. Aurelia RAHMAN, Convenor, Hills Multicultural Network

The Iftar started by Azzan as signal for breaking of the fast followed by Maghreb Prayer

The keynote speaker for the evening was Danny Mikati, the former sergeant in the NSW Police Force; recently resigned CEO of Bright Employment; and, currently heading up Australian Operations & Chief of Security at AusRelief.

Danny shared his experiences as a Muslim police officer in Bankstown and how important for us to recognize and celebrate those who serve the community.

Students were heavily involved in the organisation of the event, Iftar were served by school student waiters/ waitress.
