Winter Appeal

It is that time of the year once again where the burden of winter settles onto vulnerable parts of the world. Freezing temperatures, destructive weather and inadequate shelter and resources have left communities exposed to increased disease, frostbite and hunger.

In Gaza, a two-year war reduced much of the region’s infrastructure to rubble, leaving 1.3 million people in need of shelter support. The latest winter storms and heavy rains have reportedly killed at least 14 people last week, with 2 infants now dead due to the extreme cold.

After recent escalations in Sudan’s conflict, almost 10 million people remain internally displaced according to the UN. Nearly 32% of the displaced households have reported some family members going an entire day and night without food due to insufficient supplies.

Over in Yemen, poverty remains the country’s most debilitating crisis. Listed as the third most food-insecure country in the world, 70% of households in the country are struggling to secure their daily nutritional needs.

Despite reduced violence in Syria, the nation’s humanitarian needs also remain very high. After 14 years of conflict, many refugees have returned to destroyed homes with limited access to electricity, water, food and healthcare. With limited resources, the harshness of winter poses an extreme risk to their lives.

This winter, HAA is working to deliver life-saving aid in the form of:

  • Tents and sleeping bags
  • Food parcels
  • Warm clothing
  • Bedding, blankets and heaters
  • Heating fuel (coal and firewood)
  • Flour (bread distribution)

Through Winter Appeal 2026, you will help us support families in regions like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Syrian Refugees, Lebanon, Iraq, Sudan, Jordan, Palestine, including Gaza, Yemen, Egypt, Albania, Bosnia and Ukraine.
