A 7.8 magnitude earthquake strikes south-eastern Türkiye.
The powerful earthquake has hit parts of Türkiye and Syria, killing thousands and causing buildings to collapse. The earthquake was also felt in Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan & Iraq. Needless to mention that the affected parts in Syria are areas of refugees.
The first magnitude 7.8 quake, centered in southeastern Türkiye brought down whole apartment blocks in several cities and piled more devastation on millions of Syrians displaced by years of war. At least 31,643 deaths have been reported in Türkiye, while 5,714 people have died in Syria. The death toll is likely to keep rising.
The Human Appeal team is on the ground, providing aid including food, clothing, and shelter to survivors in the affected areas in southern Turkey and northern Syria. Thousands of individuals, including refugees, are struggling to survive in freezing temperatures without adequate shelter. We are calling upon you to help us save lives!
