Flash floods and mudslides in Afghanistan have buried thousands of homes killing over 160 people in 13 provinces.
The powerful floodwaters moved thousands of large rocks that caused major injuries and destroyed entire homes. People were seen digging out their belongings, including blankets, clothes, mattresses, and pillows from houses partially or completely filled with mud.
Hundreds of acres of agricultural land have been destroyed, with the heavy rain wiping out all the crops in the affected areas that are mostly occupied by farmers and informal workers who were already struggling financially.
Human Appeal Australia’s partners in Afghanistan are providing much-needed support to the victims of the floods and those in need.
