Education is a fundamental pillar to building a better future for all. It is a tool of empowerment, enabling youth to establish their own path in life and work towards the future they desire.

As the new academic school year approaches, many children bear the consequences of living in debilitating circumstances such as poverty, natural disasters and conflict. Countries like Lebanon, Palestine (including Gaza), Yemen, Bosnia, Somalia, Indonesia and Afghanistan have been plunged into various humanitarian crises over the last decade with the lack of resources incapacitating many of these communities.

Whether they are orphans, refugees, displaced or disadvantaged, many kids worldwide are deprived of their right to education.

According to UNESCO, a total of 250 million children worldwide are out-of-school due to living conditions, with this figure up by 6 million since 2021.

Through our Back 2 School campaign, we at Human Appeal Australia look forward to making an impact by supplying children all over the world with school essentials including school bags, stationery, uniforms, lunch and clean drinking water.

Acquiring an education is critical for the growth and development of youth. When children from low-income background receive quality learning experiences, it equips them with the essential knowledge and skills to change the course of their future. These skills are crucial in setting the foundation for the child’s growth by enabling them to pursue careers and establish an income for themselves and future generations.

As part of our work in Gaza, we will also be facilitating temporary schools for kids who have been displaced during the war as an effort to retain their education and give them hope during this devastating time.
