With major service facilities being targeted, such as the water desalination facility to the north of Gaza over 74 public facilities & buildings were destroyed.
Electricity was also forcibly cut off the strip. The situation on the ground, especially in hospitals is tragic, adding to the burden of dealing with injuries whilst tackling COVID-19 cases. The infrastructure of the city is being targeted. All roads leading to Al-Shifa hospital have been bombarded, making it difficult for paramedics to reach the injured and transfer them to the hospital safely.
This comes after a series of attacks on the Al-Aqsa mosque where at least 24 Palestinians have been killed and more than 700 injured.
With the rebuilding process just beginning, Human Appeal’s team in Gaza have already mobilised a team of paramedics to assist with retrieving & receiving the injured patients at local hospitals. We’re also currently helping clear the rubble from the streets to allow ambulances to get through & for families to have access to their homes as well as distributing food parcels, hot meals, baby milk powder, hygiene kits & beddings to the families in need.
