The traumatised people of Gaza recount the horrors of constant bomb strikes

At least 45 people including 15 children and 4 women were killed in Gaza and 311 wounded, according to health officials there as a result of the latest 3 days air strikes.

Several residential buildings were destroyed in Gaza. The attack hit densely populated residential areas in different parts.

Civil defence and rescue crews continued to retrieve the bodies of the dead and wounded buried under the rubble. The rescue process was made more difficult by the narrow alleyways of the camp because of how closely homes there are lined up together.

Gaza has been under assault and siege for over 15 years. It is one of the heaviest populated areas in the world. The majority of the two millions population are children. Gazans are grappling with unemployment, crumbling medical infrastructure and little electricity and clean water.

On Saturday, dozens of people lined up in front of bakeries and grocery stores, while the local energy authority, unable to supply the sole power station with fuel, shut down operations at midday.

According to Sky News The UN’s humanitarian coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territory, Lynn Hastings, said the humanitarian situation in Gaza “is already dire and can only worsen with this most recent escalation”. “We stand ready to work with all sides to ensure humanitarian needs are met,” she said.

Ms Hastings said service facilities such as hospitals, schools, warehouses, and designated shelters for internally displaced persons are at risk of being unable to operate.
