A series of cyclones, floods and landslides have wreaked havoc in South Asia over the past few days, affecting millions of people.
Indonesia has reportedly faced the most impact, with local authorities confirming the deaths of over 700 people and 500 people missing as of 2nd December 2025. Widespread damaged has also been reported in Sri Lanka, with 465 killed and another 366 still missing.
Large-scale infrastructural damage in both countries has resulted in the forced displacement of millions. Homes, roads and entire districts have been severely affected, forcing thousands into overcrowded shelters. Damaged water systems have also put entire communities at risk of diseases and outbreaks.
Human Appeal Australia (HAA) is always present where most in need. With this crisis still actively unfolding, we are implementing an Emergency Relief Campaign in Indonesia and Sri Lanka to provide urgent relief to those in critical need.
Right now, we are mobilising early response teams to deliver shelter and medical aid to those impacted – tackling the ongoing displacements and disrupted healthcare systems. Food parcels, clean water and hygiene kits are also being delivered to communities who have been left with nothing to survive with.
