A 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunami struck the island of Sulawesi on Friday 28 September 2018 sweeping away buildings and killing over 2000 in the regional capital Palu, and Donggala Regency – Indonesia.
It is reported as the most devastating earthquake to hit Indonesia since 2004.
The number of victims in Palu City continued to increase, according to Supoto press conference. More than 2000 killed as search for survivors wraps up on 11/10/18, government agency says. Sadly many people were reported trapped in the rubble of buildings.
The director of the city hospital appealed for an immediate help. He called for an urgent act to establish field hospitals. There is need for basic necessities including food, water tents, blankets, and medical assistance.
