Since 1967, around 2.7 million trees in Palestine have been uprooted.
Uncultivated land is far more likely to be confiscated, but olive trees require little equipment and are resistant to drought. This means that even when farmers are prevented from accessing their land, the olive tree remains hardy.
When you donate your olive tree with Human Appeal, we don’t simply provide seeds to farmers, we deliver healthy trees – around 1.6 to 2 metres in height and at least 3 years old, that are already producing fruit. We help the farmers to plant their trees, and support them along the way.
Each farming family that we help will receive 30-40 trees, supporting their livelihood of growing and selling olives for profit. An average mature olive tree produces 15 to 20 kilograms of olives per year.
Your tree will be given to the farming families most in need in Gaza, Jerusalem or the West Bank.
80,000 families in Palestine rely on olive trees as their main livelihood, but they represent more than just an income. For many, it is a symbol of their struggle, and of their permanence in the lands of their ancestors.
