Almost one third of Bangladesh has been affected by floods due to the continuous heavy rainfall during their monsoon season and as a result, killing over 160 people with an estimated 1.5million displaced.
This has escalated the country to a state of national emergency as it has caused fears of more COVID-19 infections. The country is already reporting 266,498 confirmed cases with 3,513 deaths as of late with these numbers still rising.
Bangladesh already has an influx of over a million Rohingya refugees living in make shift-shelters as well so these floods are just making their lives even more difficult.
Human Appeal Australia’s office in Bangladesh has already been deployed to provide as much needed support to the victims of the floods and those in need.
