BFT Hindmarsh is Making A Difference By Providing Clean Drinking Water To The World

BFT Hindmarsh is one of 200+ Body Fit Training (BFT) Studios across the globe. BFT Hindmarsh is 100% focused on supporting and nurturing our local community. The amazing group of members are the lifeblood of the studio and create a fun and welcoming environment every day. Because of this, BFT Hindmarsh is dedicated to supporting members and getting behind their passions, projects and initiatives.

On the 10th of September BFT Hindmarsh will be holding their “BFT Unlocked” which is a nationwide open day at all BFT gyms. BFT Hindmarsh is excited to use this opportunity to make a difference and has paired up with local charity organisation Human Appeal in order to raise much-needed funds for Somalia, which is experiencing the most difficult drought in 40 years with almost 4.6 million people in dire need. Water is not only required for hydration but is also crucial for livestock and crop survival, without which, food sources are reduced dramatically. With the hope of rain becoming slim to none, the World Economic Forum estimates that 1.4 million children will be acutely malnourished by the end of the year.
On average, Somalis as young as 5 years old have to walk anywhere from 6-20kms per day to obtain water which is, in most cases, unsanitary and unsuitable for human consumption.

At BFT Hindmarsh’s open day, members will be partaking in a challenge to lift and walk whilst carrying 40 litres of water as they collectively attempt to reach 50km which is only a very small representation of the Somalian daily struggle. Together, we aim to build a water well in Somalia which will provide over 330 people with endless pure, clean drinking water protecting them from waterborne diseases and dehydration. The well will also supply much-needed water to feed livestock and crops providing food and travel for the people and children of Somalia.
