Human Appeal Australia (HAA) hosted a group of young Muslim Australians for its fifth annual Aspiring Leaders Umrah Tour of four countries – Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey and UAE. The tour, comprising fifteen participants from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth, it started on the 5th February and will conclude on the 22nd February 2019. The group of young university students and graduates are led and mentored by Bashar Al-Jamal, director of HAA.

After performing Umrah in Mecca then visiting Medina. The group then left to Amman where they visited a distribution centre and personally assisted with HAA’s Winter Aid Relief handing out gas cookers, blankets, mattresses and food packs to Syrian refugee families who were living in makeshift tents.

On the 13th of February as part of the tour schedule, the group met with the Australian Ambassador in Jordan; the Honourable Miles Armitage. After a warm welcome by His Excellency and embassy staff the gathering discussed the situation of the Syrian refugees’ and underprivileged Jordanian children in Jordan particularly the basic necessity of education. HAA’s director Bashar Al-Jamal pointed out that Human Appeal Australia has been always at the forefront of facilitating education to those needy children, he also discussed with His Excellency the ways to guarantee that these children will have access to safe education while in Jordan.
